Leonard Davis School of Gerontology
Los Angeles, California

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. USC is consistently ranked among the nation's most prestigious universities, and the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology features one of the world's best degree and research programs in gerontology. TheUSC Leonard Davis Schoolof Gerontology has an international reputation as a hub of aging research and with additional strong programs throughout the university, leads the way in defining and advancing the field of gerontology:https://gero.usc.edu

The Irimia Laboratory leverages neuroimaging, neurogenomics, and deep learning to study the aging brain in health and disease, particularly in neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our researchers integrate brain mapping techniques with machine intelligence and computational biology approaches to investigate how brain alterations contribute to neurocognitive deficits seen in AD.

We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join our research efforts to understand how genetic factors drive brain structure changes seen in Alzheimer's disease. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing computational studies of brain aging and pursue innovative research projects. The scholar will work with structural neuroimaging methods to integrate their analysis with neurogenomics and with deep learning models to reveal novel genetic and neuroanatomic risk factors for Alzheimer's disease.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, computational biology, computer science, engineering, biophysics, applied mathematics, or related field.

  • Computer programming expertise (e.g., Python, Matlab, or TensorFlow) is required.

  • Strong interest in neurodegenerative diseases, neurogenomics, or neuroimaging.

  • Previous experience with neuroimage analysis.
