Radiation Therapy Lead Dosimetrist Full Time Days

Full Time 40 weekly hours, day shift

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of either the Radiation Department Manager or the Chief of Physics, this position designs treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation that delivers a prescribed dose to patients in accordance with a Radiation Oncologist's prescription. This position provides high quality patient care and aids the Physician and Medical Physicist during the treatment planning process. The Lead Dosimetrist collaborates with the Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists, and all other ancillary team members. The Lead Dosimetrist will be responsible to provide leadership and mentoring to Medical Dosimetry staff.

Key Accountabilities/Principle Duties:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

1. Provides calculation and distribution of radiation dose.

2. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to apply radiation oncologic principles to practice.

3. Provides necessary data for departmental quality control and ensures the safety of patients and staff.

4. Participates in financial management and productivity goals.

5. Customer satisfaction.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required unless licensed prior to 2017

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Medical Dosimetrist required.

  • Requires medical dosimetry certification (CMD) eligible with completion required within one calendar year of employment.

  • BCLS required

  • Certification as a RTT (ARRT registration) preferred

  • Certification by the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources as a radiation therapy technologist (KROC) is preferred

  • Certification by the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy as a Radiation Operator (KBIMRT) and a radiology license through Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) preferred

  • H. Experience with Varian Aria 15.5, Eclipse 15.5, and Velocity preferred
