Description

The laboratory of Kate Hong, PhD, at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a postdoctoral associate to study sensory-guided behavior in mice. The Hong Lab (www.thehonglab.com) studies neural mechanisms underlying tactile and multi-sensory-guided behavior. The lab uses animal behavior, optogenetics, multi-area in vivo electrophysiology, and computational modeling tools to study information flow between cortical and subcortical brain areas that mediate behavior. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on several projects, e.g. (i) Cortical modulation of subcortical sensory areas during tactile perception; (ii) neural mechanisms for hypersensitivity in models of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Projects can be tailored to aligned interests of the applicant and the lab.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD by the start date. Individuals with a strong background in systems or computational neuroscience are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in animal behavior, in vivo electrophysiology, and population-level neural data analysis is highly preferred.

Application Instructions

Please send a cover letter describing past research accomplishments and future research interests, CV, and a list of 3 reference contacts. Applications should be submitted electronically via Interfolio.
