Position Purpose







This position serves as clinical and administrative leader that communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, and problem-solves with other members of Renown's leadership and patient care teams to ensure the delivery of safe, cost-effective, age appropriate, and high-quality patient care services. The RTOC Supervisor facilitates professional relationships between physicians, nursing and interdisciplinary teams to provide a patient-centered coordination of patient bed placement.









Nature and Scope







The RTOC Supervisor is responsible to maintain a well-organized and functioning work environment in the RTOC that allows for the enhancement of evidenced based practice and continuity of patient care throughout the healthcare continuum. They coordinate and collaborate with other departments of Renown Health and outside facilities as needed, to optimize patient outcomes.

Supports RTOC Leadership and communicates regularly with Manager and Director of RTOC in the coordination of efficient patient throughput. Facilitates patient bed assignments by taking into account patient care needs, level of care required, staffing capabilities, and assures COBRA law compliance for all transfers, and when accepting admissions from other facilities. Collaborates with Environments services, Patient Transport, Nursing Operations, and Nursing Leadership on operational issues in real-time.

Ensures that the program structure, content and overall delivery of patient care services remains appropriate and compliant with Office of EMS regulations and internal policies/protocols. Acts as a clinical resource and internal educator/content expert, provides individual instruction or remediation as needed.

The RTOC Supervisor acts as a role model, resource, and coach to the RTOC staff to provide ongoing support for professional development, maintenance of the standards of care and quality outcomes. This position has the responsibility and authority for counseling and coaching staff, investigatory follow-up, competency assessment and staff performance evaluations.

Effectively leads conflict resolution and the service recovery process. Identifies and resolves customer service issues to ensure adherence to the Mission, Vision and Values of Renown Health.

Provides direct supervision of staff during daily operations. Maintains all job requirements for Transfer Center Nurse Specialist and RTOC Coordinator. Provides staffing coverage as necessary to ensure operational continuity.

This position has the authority to make specific decisions regarding patient placement inclusive of: allocation of RTOC personnel; approval of overtime; settle disputes between employees, and assist in communications regarding doctor/nurse disagreements; facilitate transfer of a critical patient to another facility when necessary; conduct or assist in employee counseling, and terminations or commendations.

This position does not provide direct patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Description



Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain State of Nevada Registered Nurse licensure. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.



Experience:



Minimum of 3-5 years of Acute Care nursing experience or 2 years of Critical Care or ED nursing experience required. Leadership experience preferred.



License(s):



Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.



Certification(s):



Current BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association standards required.



Computer / Typing:



Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
