Purpose:
Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for a Senior Naval Weapons Testing Engineering Technician to join our team in Oxnard, CA. In this role you will be a key member of a dedicated and mission-oriented team of federal engineers, active-duty Naval Officers and Contract staff who work tirelessly to ensure combat capability of the US and partner Fleets. You will be a critical member of the Valkyrie test team composed of the best and brightest engineers and scientists our country has to directly contributing to the fielding and testing of missile defense and naval combat capabilities.
Job Description


  • Serve as Senior Naval Weapons Testing Engineering Technician on our test and evaluation team in support of all evolutions related to the testing of shipboard combat systems elements on various ship classes.


  • Provide expert technical support for Combat Systems Assessments and Training (CSAT), Combat Systems Ship Qualifications and Training (CSSQT), Combat System Operability Test (CSOT), Overall Combat System Operability Test (OCSOT), and other Combat Systems related testing and assessments.
  • Apply a broad knowledge of the ship's ICS interfaces and an in-depth knowledge of the electronic, electro-mechanical and command control interface aspects of the ICS.
  • Responsible for participating in tests on land-based systems, supporting Combat System Testing and shipboard systems both in port and during underway periods.
  • Support special projects designed to investigate significant existing or potential operational and maintenance problems which impact the effectiveness of the fleet.
  • Contribute to development of technical presentations, written reports, and presentations.
  • Communicate effectively both written and orally with the program office, shipyards, contractors, etc.
  • Answer/assist in providing technical information to support data calls and other requests for information.



Qualifications:


  • Must have a High school diploma and 10 years of knowledge and experience on elements of US Navy ship combat systems including Aegis Weapon System, Ballistic Missile Defense, Ship's Self Defense Systems, including Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) system, NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS), Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM), Common Data Link Management System (CDLMS), Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT), Littoral Combat Systems, or Shipboard Weapon Systems. and life cycle support.
  • Must have a High School diploma.


  • Must be able to work independently, with a team, or leading a team/ task.
  • Must have the ability to conduct understand and operate complex naval systems related to ICS.
  • Must have prior experience with Testing Aegis Weapons Systems or experience with Missile Systems Engineering.
  • Must have technical experience in one of the following areas: Fleet operations, systems engineering, missile systems, or Aegis qualifications.



Desired Qualifications:


  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferred.
  • Knowledge of UNIX based system language preferred
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electronic components experience, preferred.



Security Requirements:


  • Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain it.


Travel Requirements:


  • 60% of travel.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to travel and work in shipyards and on US Navy Ships in port and underway.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and talk/hear.
  • Require moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range: $26.00 - $31.63 per hour
