Job Summary

Music Adjunct Faculty members are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in music. This position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses and supporting student learning and engagement in music-related activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, professional development, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Job Description

Typical duties include but not limited to:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver effective music instruction for assigned courses, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and student learning outcomes.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies for in-person and remote instruction.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, performances, and examinations.
  • Maintain scheduled hours to provide academic support and advising to students.
  • Convey expertise in the discipline for which instruction is provided.
  • Use CANVAS to convey course information to students, including documentation of student progress.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent with 18 graduate credit hours in field of instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in field of instruction from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
  • One full year teaching experience at the university level.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to provide academic and/or applied instruction according to curricular needs associated with: B.A. in Music Performance, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music Therapy, B.A. in Music
  • Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.
  • Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
  • Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and collaborates with others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
