Job Summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. All Faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, responsive to changing professional needs; committed to innovative delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning; committed to effective use of technology including distance learning; and provide service to the College, University and Community.
Assignments will include teaching, at both undergraduate and/or graduate levels, as applicable. Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region.
Adjunct instructors instruct students, participate in appropriate curricular and co-curricular assignments and functions, and perform the necessary administrative obligations.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plans and teaches in assigned course.
  • Prepares syllabi and instruction materials, coordinates lectures and tests, evaluates and complies with relevant grading standards and policies.
  • Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction.
  • Keeps abreast of new information and developments in the field of instruction.
  • Knows how to use Canvas and other university technology.
  • Maintains professional skills through regular professional development, and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty.
  • Assists with the development of curriculum as required or necessary.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field and eighteen (18+) credit hours from a regionally accredited institution or terminal degree in related field with relevant doctoral-level credit hours from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Present a professional image in word, action, and attire.
  • Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicate and collaborate with others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
