Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, School of
Medicine, Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time cardiologist to serve as
Medical Director of the Echocardiography Lab to support our team within the
Division of Cardiology. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient
care, leadership, and innovation alongside our team of cardiologists and
advanced practice providers. Salary and rank will be commensurate with
experience and education.

The position includes responsibilities in
patient care, administration, program development, safety, quality, and access to
imaging services. This position will work closely with the Chief of Cardiology
and providers to achieve goals focused on outstanding patient care, quality,
and safety. The job functions also include supervision of advanced practice
providers and echo lab staff. An Academic title will be included with this
position.

The north-central New Mexico/Albuquerque area is a unique and stunning place in which to live with a diversity of climate, geography, and culture that defies easy description. The city itself sits at the base of the Sandia Mountains along the Rio Grande Valley just south of Santa Fe. The central New Mexico weather is nearly ideal with plentiful sun, and moderate temperatures and there is easy access to varying landscapes and climates both within the State and in close neighboring States. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board certified/board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease by date of hire
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Board certification/board eligible in
    Echocardiography by date of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership skills in coordinating inpatient and outpatient care
  • Experience with a broad spectrum of cardiovascular disease
  • Teaching experience at all levels of training
  • Training and/or experience in outcomes research
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student
    success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
