Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at Psychologist 1 or 2 level. Level 1 has less than 2 years Psychologist experience.

DESCRIPTION

Under direction from the Manager of Outpatient Psychiatry Services and the Director of the College Mental Health Program, the Psychologist 2 provides all aspects of psychological services including diagnostic evaluations, assessments, treatment planning and individual therapy for UCSD college students at the UCSD La Jolla Outpatient Psychiatric Services. Provides family and group psychotherapy as needed. Provides evidence-based brief interventions in integrated behavioral health model patients with more complex interacting disorders.

Coordinates all mental health services and assures quality of care. Participates on multi-disciplinary treatment team, interviews patients, and facilitates discussion around diagnosis and treatment planning. The licensed clinician is responsible for the soundness and validity of recommendations and services but is expected to seek advice from supervisor or senior specialists on unusual or complex cases. Incumbent keeps supervisor informed of the status and progress of individual cases. Professional and community activities include participating in conferences, professional development seminars with fellow staff and team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D degree in Clinical Psychology.

  • Current valid state of California Psychology License.

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Psychologist.

  • Proven psycho-diagnostic interviewing skills.

  • Strong crisis intervention skills. Ability to deliver care in an ethical, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory manner.

  • Theoretical understanding of psycho-dynamic, supportive and cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approaches.

  • Knowledge of indications and contraindications for psychiatric medications and experience in reading and interpreting psychiatric charts.

  • Ability to prepare for and lead psycho-educational groups on anxiety, depression, dual disorders, anger management and stress management.

  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving and in critical thinking. Able to think creatively and efficiently, to assess, analyze and solve problems.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse populations and co-workers, exercising tact, flexibility and diplomacy.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.

  • Strong writing ability and experience in writing concise, factual psychosocial notes and program reports.

  • Knowledge and skill in problem-focused psycho-therapeutic interventions and a thorough working knowledge of DSM-V.

  • Knowledge and prior experience in applying the SBIRT model for alcohol and substance use disorders.

  • Strong experience in conducting psycho-diagnostic evaluations and plan treatment.

  • Experience in managing a more complex caseload with a continual flux of new intakes weekly.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $108,325 - $142,660 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $51.88 - $68.32

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
