Adult Outpatient Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
As part of a large continuum of behavioral health care, the Outpatient Nurse Practitioner will provide evaluations and medication to address the psychiatric needs of patients. Working under the supervision of the Medical Director for Outpatient Services, will work closely with therapists, RNs, LPNs, Division Director, as well as other programs such as Partial Hospital, Crisis Services, and Inpatient to provide responsive and integrated treatment. Will meet with team for case reviews, collaborate with other providers, and have the opportunity to work across multiple settings. Part of a strong and diversified group of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who regularly assemble for group supervision and support. I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Ability to establish working relationships with other human service providers
2. Fully prepared to present a patient care case in court
3. Conducts Mental health evaluations on all medical floors/ emergency care cent as needed, and provides appropriate care interventions
4. Works with the treatment team to analyze and interpret observations of patient's behavior with information gathered about patient

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:

2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Graduation from an accredited graduate program in psychiatric nursing
2. Massachusetts censure as an advanced practice nurse
3. Board certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Association and recognized to practice in an expanded role by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum of three years advanced clinical practice in psychiatric nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
