You will join our Energy Consulting Services practice

As our new Senior Energy Engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team of energy efficiency and sustainability professionals who execute interesting and diverse projects in the commercial, industrial, institutional and municipal sectors. Our team is at the forefront of helping clients achieve their energy efficiency and carbon reduction goals. You will have opportunities to collaborate with design and construction professionals in the Energy business unit as well as with other Ramboll business units and organizations in the Americas and globally including Environment & Health, Water, and Advanced Manufacturing.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:



  • This is a Sr. role anticipated to lead client development for new projects with an emphasis on business development and project execution.
  • Conducting investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures (ASHRAE Level 1-3 energy audits)
  • Performing utility billing and interval data analysis, and energy benchmarking
  • Conducting spreadsheet analysis to estimate energy and cost savings of proposed energy efficiency measures (EEMs)
  • Developing custom spreadsheet calculators and analysis tools
  • Developing construction cost estimates for EEMs and determining economic results (e.g., via simple payback period and life cycle cost analysis)
  • Utilizing building energy simulation modeling software (e.g., eQUEST/DOE-2.2, EnergyPlus) to assess savings potential of EEMs in existing facilities and optimize energy performance of new construction and substantial renovation projects
  • Assessing renewable energy potential at client sites
  • Performing Measurement & Verification (M&V) activities including data analysis
  • Working with and supporting company design engineers and construction managers to implement energy efficiency projects
  • Participating in or leading the development of Energy Master Plans and Decarbonization Plans
  • Conducting energy scenario planning and techno/economic modeling analyses to support planning projects
  • Supporting building commissioning activities
  • Summarizing engineering analyses/results in written reports (and planning documents) and presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality
  • Supporting business development activities
  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineering staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering required
  • Certified Energy Manager preferred
  • Professional Engineer preferred
  • MBA/Masters preferred
  • Minimum 10-15 years of professional experience with focus on building energy efficiency; energy master and/or decarbonization planning experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Project Management experience or ability to lead projects from conception through completion with emphasis on quality, schedule adherence, and budget control
  • Energy master planning
