Description

* Manage the engineer's performance through expectation and goal setting, coaching, counseling, feedback,
development activities, and disciplinary actions.
* Responsible for staffing of the Modifier Engineering department to implement planned work.
* Delegate Modifier Engineering department's responsibilities to the Modifier Engineers (including self).
* Responsible for the development of the Modifier Engineers technically and professionally through Individual
Development Plans (IDP). Ensure the engineers are trained for their assigned work.
* Provide Modifier process training and process safety training to new Engineers and Managers.
* Issues monthly progress reports to Modifier Production Manager.
* Responsible for maintaining the Modifier specific operational standards and process safety standards.
* Ensure the Modifier Engineering Department maintains excellence in the following aspects of process safety
management - process hazard analysis (PHA), pre-startup safety review (PSSR), management of change (MOC),
incident investigation, and process safety information (PSI).
* Ensure the Modifier Engineering Department complete the following environmental requirements per site and
environmental agency standards. For example, environmental calculations, LOPC investigations, and Title V reports.
* Ensure the Modifier Engineering Department implements short and long term solutions to improve OEE and capacity.
Use tools and methods such as SPC, 5 why, PTRS, and RCA to enhance problem solving efficiency and effectiveness.
* Leads the Modifier department capital project planning and prioritization. Ensure project scope is defined before
requesting for Engineering resources.
* Ensure the Modifier Engineering Department supports plant trials for modified or new product grades.
* Manage the DCS MOC tracking system.
* Regularly interact with technical staff in other Kaneka sites globally to cross-pollinate best engineering practices
between all Modifier sites.
* Ensure all work in the Modifier Engineering Department are documented and organized for future reference.
* Lead meetings and audits periodically to ensure all Modifier Engineering Department expectations are met.
* Support the Production Manager during budget planning process.
* Perform weekend duty coverage as needed.
* Lead cross functional/site teams as needed.
* Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Chemical Engineering (required)
Experience
3 years: Production or engineering role which includes process design and unit assignments within a chemical processing facility. (required)
