School-Based Therapist TAP Program

Field/Hale MPS School District

Position Summary: This position provides clinical services to those children and families who are considered to be at risk in a school setting. These positions have the option for reduced time in the summer. This position requires services to be delivered on-site at home, school or in the community. It emphasizes a high level of skill and knowledge about families, individuals and family assessment, family skills, and education services in the school. The position provides diagnostic assessments and therapy services to eligible students and their families. It also provides consultation/teaming with school psychologists, school social workers, teachers, and multiple mental health providers. This position provides case consultation, training on mental health issues and assistance to school personnel for clients in the Therapeutic Assistance Program.

Qualifications: Masters or Doctorate Degree in social work, family therapy, or psychology with an emphasis on clinical practice required. MN state license and eligibility to become a credentialed provider with insurance entities required e.g., LP, LICSW, LMFT or license eligible and clinical trainee applicants considered. Extensive knowledge and experience in working with severe emotional disorders in children and adults, family systems theory, individual and family development and community resources and school systems required. Considerable ability to plan and implement treatment strategies for children with SED is preferred. Experience with students and families of color, understanding of the impact of race and poverty upon students and families preferred. Experience with Electronic Health Records preferred. This position requires the use of a personal automobile for transportation and may require frequent use for traveling between office and clients. An active driver's license and vehicle insurance per Canvas Health policy are required. The use of a cell phone is required for this position.
