Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Concrete Estimator at McHugh Concrete Construction, Inc. Located in the Greater Chicago Area. The Concrete Estimator will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to concrete bids, help market concrete services, assist with concrete management and assist estimating of other trades. This includes analyzing construction plans, performing material takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring accuracy in project budgets. The Concrete Estimator will play a crucial role in supporting the success of the concrete construction projects.

Responsibilities

Concrete Estimates

• Quantity take-offs send out RFP's to subs and vendors, scope subs and vendors, review bid documents, develop a list of clarifications, miscellaneous pricing, RFI's, and scope of work. Work with the Concrete team and SE to develop a list of potential VE items, attend pre-bid meetings, and attend in-house pre-bid meetings.

Concrete Estimating Procedures & Software Technology

• Create building information models (BIM) for concrete estimates/projects
• Work with the Concrete team to learn and develop a method to use BIM with concrete estimating.
• Learn estimating software and develop ideas for using it more effectively and efficiently for estimates, budgets, and field use.
• Research other potential software that can improve our concrete estimating process.
• Use bid management software and manage Invitations to Bid (ITBs), document issuance and documentation.

Concrete Projects

• Conduct job site visits to review production schedule
• Assist the Concrete Team in continuing to develop concrete best practices.
• Assist in research of new concrete technology - formwork, concrete mixes, equipment, management tools, etc.
• Assist Project Manager with submittals and change orders as needed.

Concrete Marketing

• Contact suppliers, GC's, Engineers, Architects and Publications to find bid opportunities
• Create and maintain contacts and relationships with clients, engineers and vendors.
• Attend appropriate networking and Trade functions.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience of concrete construction industry practices and processes
• Experience in concrete estimating and project cost analysis
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and drawings
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with project manager
• Proficient in relevant software and technology
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is preferred
• Professional certification in construction estimating a plus

Chicago Estimator - Annual Salary Pay Range

$85,000 - $100,000
