CAD/BIM Tech (BIM Modeler)
Position Description:
The position is for a CAD/BIM Tech (BIM Modeler) in a multi-discipline 50+ person AE firm that specializes in a wide variety of medium scale commercial building projects with an emphasis on projects on military bases. Position requires someone that is outgoing, personable, professional, ambitious, and enjoys working in a multi-discipline AE environment. Position requires someone that is eager to work with a wide variety of individuals, meet deadlines, and produce quality work, and is eager to grow their career and take on more responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support all discipline team members involved in the production of documents using the latest releases of Revit.
  • Developing architectural Revit BIM models, used to produce working drawings.
  • Develop documents and information related to Revit and BIM such as PXP, M3, COBie, CHX, Process Maps, and so forth.
  • Clash detections using ACC Model Coordination and Navisworks and coordinating with all team members to resolve those clashes.
  • Develop in Revit rendered models for presentations.
  • Review working models and PDF outputs for company modeling and drafting standards quality control compliance.
  • Assist in the production and compilation of working drawings for deliverables.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines daily by talking to them to resolve issues on a project.
  • On multi-firm projects, assist outside firms with project setup, deliverable requirements, modeling compliance, and so forth.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years' experience in developing architectural Revit BIM models to be used as construction working drawings on commercial projects. Individual should have a good understanding of the work performed by other disciplines and how multiple discipline models integrate into a building whole.
  • Proficient in the latest releases of Revit. We implement the latest releases as soon as they are available. Individuals should also be abreast of the latest Autodesk tools related to Revit and BIM.
  • Ability to link multiple Revit models together by Shared Coordinates and acquire those coordinates from an AutoCAD Survey.
  • Experience in Bluebeam Revu. We use Bluebeam extensively as a collaboration tool.
  • Ability to pass a background check in pursuit of obtaining access onto military bases.
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stay.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication, teamwork, and collaboration. Individual is responsible for seeking out, implementing, and disseminating BIM modeling information on projects.
  • Ability to perform tasks on multiple projects simultaneously, independently, and in a logical and timely manner. Individual will take direction from multiple persons on various projects.
  • Desire to learn, accept direction, be mentored, and build relationships.
  • Have a strong work ethic and be able to handle multiple deadlines while paying close attention to detail to avoid errors.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering as-built drawings and recreate the plans in Revit with minimal errors.


Additional Desired, But Not Required, Qualifications:

  • Experience in the following current software releases of: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 10, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max. Experience in AutoCAD is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in the U.S. Armed Services and or experience working on commercial military (DoD) projects on military bases.
  • Prior construction administration (CA) experience.
  • Experience with Dynamo visual scripting for task automation or aptitude to learn it.
  • Experience with Python and its interaction with the Revit API or aptitude to learn it.
  • Able to understand, model, and manipulate other disciplines outside of Architecture.


Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of how Revit is used to produce documents and information in addition to working drawings as it relates to commercial design and construction. Candidate should have a basic knowledge of modeling practices by other disciplines, especially structural and mechanical. The individual will be responsible for carrying out routine tasks but also expected to assist in a large variety of tasks related to modeling and drawing production, both standard and complex. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
