The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites nominations and applications for a Counselor. Job Description: Reporting to the Director of the counseling center, the counselor is responsible for providing short term individual and group counseling support to FIT students who are financially challenged. This includes providing crisis care, performing risk assessment, offering general student counseling and referrals on academic, career, and situational matters. The pandemic has brought an additional increase in mental health concerns, particularly among students facing multiple stressors. The key to student success relies on a strong mental health infrastructure. As such, we must improve these resources as the need deeply impacts our underserved students. This includes students navigating economic adversity, encompassing those with a low Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), recipients of Pell and TAP grants, as well as those affiliated with our Office of Disability Services (FIT-Able). It also includes students who may not be in these categories but who have also vocalized their struggles with housing and food insecurity. Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Additional Information: This is a grant-funded non-bargaining position with funding through June 3, 2026. Please note all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the background check process. Salary Salary: $81,000 per year Work Schedule Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
