As a HSE Sr Specialist, you will be trusted to the Health, Safety & Environment work that encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of associates at our Fort Worth North Manufacturing Team in Fort Worth, TX. (US).
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Develop and implement policies and practices to identify & mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace.
- Investigate good catch, near miss, and incident events by facilitating root cause analysis with applicable parties to identify solutions which prevent recurrence.
- Provide advice and training on safety procedures, protocols, and policies.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with internal and government standards related to employee health, safety, and environment.
- Maintain and analyze records of workplace events to identify areas of concern and propose strategies for continual improvement.
- Assist with implementation of the necessary systems and tools to enable site leaders to manage compliance and continual improvement with all pertinent HSE regulations, permits, statutes, local ordinances and/or other internal driven requirements, and conformance with all pertinent HSE Guidelines.
- Ensures that HSE services are provided to the site in an effective and efficient manner and works directly with business leaders.
- May serve as the primary point of contact on HSE issues at the site for regulatory authorities and co-ordinates the response to regulatory inspections.
- Develops and implements effective and efficient HSE Management System and provides guidance for the majority of supporting programs (e.g., Chemical Safety, Biosafety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Compliance, Occupational Health, Emergency Management) that are appropriate in consideration of the site's complexity, population, regulatory burden/environment, criticality and location.
- Develops and drives incident response procedures and the risk management program for the site.
- Responsible for contributing to the development of the HSE department budget at the respective site as appropriate, and for being fiscally responsible with the resources.
- Complete budget forecasts and projections ensuring HSE department does not exceed budget. Identify where resources are required.
- Make purchases as needed and ensure budget limitations are not exceeded, Highlight overspend as well as opportunities for savings.
- At times will oversee HSE service providers.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- 2 Years of Relevant Experience
- Work hours: 9/80 Schedule (9 hour workday Monday through Friday with every other Friday off)
