As an Engineer II - Supplier QA , supporting our Quality Assurance Department, you will be trusted with managing suppliers and ensuring purchased materials are conforming to applicable requirements at Houston, Texas US.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Working with suppliers on establishing processes that ensure purchased materials are consistently meeting applicable requirements.
  • Designing and analyzing inspection and testing processes for purchased materials.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests and performing statistical analysis to assess the level of control and manage product quality risks.
  • Collaborating with suppliers on undertaking root cause analysis of incidents requiring corrective action.
  • Ensuring that corrective measures and deviation meet acceptable regulatory standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Evaluating suppliers based on established procedures and ensure only suppliers meeting the established requirements are used.
  • Establishing KPIs or quality metrics and monitoring supplier performances
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members from multi-disciplines to ensure purchased materials are consistently meeting applicable requirements. This includes performing quality audits, establishing manufacturing processes, performing and reviewing validation documents, establishing inspection and monitoring processes, evaluating failures and establishing CAPAs as needed.
  • Communicating with and supporting supplier on investigating reported nonconformance of purchased materials, conducting root cause investigation and implementing meaningful corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality methodologies and utilize quality tools to help drive continuous improvement.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Work hours: Exempt - Monday- Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%
