This position is under the direct supervision of the R.N. and/or physician to assist in implementing and data gathering in the care of the patients undergoing interventional endoscopic procedures and performs other duties as assigned. Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound procedures, ERCP, fine needle aspiration with slide preparation, biliary and pancreatic duct stents, esophageal stents, manometric procedures, esophageal dilations, specimen collection and other related procedures/duties. This position performs all aspects of cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing instrumentation used during any endoscopic procedures. This position serves a patient population of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The position provides technical skills as a member of the interventional endoscopy team, communicating with supervisors, other staff, physicians, and anesthesiologist. The demands on this position on very dynamic because of rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, equipment, policies, procedures, and because of physician's preferences in equipment, positioning, and supplies. This position ensures equipment is working properly before procedures, cares for equipment after procedure, and is responsible for reporting equipment that is not working properly or is broken. Flexible hours and overtime may be required. On-call may be required. This position does provide patient care.
