We are currently accepting applications for the fulltime (37.5 hours per week) position of:

Administrative Assistant - Community Center
Recreation and Community Programs Department

Starting Hourly Range: $29.72 - $33.87
Excellent benefits package

The REQUIRED Town of Lexington application form and cover letter must be received in the Town's

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Community Center Director performs a variety of clerical and
administrative tasks at the customer service counter to support the overall operation of the department
and its programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Provides extensive customer service for the Community Center including both the Recreation and
Community Programs and the Human Services departments. Note- supports two departments.
* Answers phones and greets walk-in customers, responds to inquiries, and/or directs customers to
the appropriate staff member.
* Processes registrations for Recreation and Community Programs and Human Services department
programs, services and rentals, and provides information and assistance to the public regarding
programs and services.
* Processes payments for program registrations. Verifies and processes funds received in cash, check,
and credit card form.
* Prepares opening and closing paperwork, including transaction reports, credit card transactions and
secures receipts and cash.
* Monitors program registrations, dates, rosters, cancellations, waitlists and make ups through the
Point of Sale system
* Prepares and processes memberships for Aquatics and Community Center.
* Monitors wait lists and active rosters.
* Prepares and assists with seasonal program entries into point of sale and assists with editing and
proof-reading the four seasonal brochures, and other documents.

* Onboards new staff for evening, weekend and substitute Municipal Assistants at the Community
Center customer service station.
* Maintains and provides program rosters for instructors, room rental support, and a variety of print
and electronic files and records for the Community Center.
* Processes incoming and outgoing mail daily.
* Serves as liaison between the day and evening shift.
* Liaison for the part time and seasonal employees, as well as volunteers assigned to the front counter,
including those assigned to Human Services.
* Communicates and meets with custodial staff weekly regarding facility needs as they arise and as
scheduled for room set up, technology and or other requests
* Verifies daily schedule of building for accuracy.
* May perform special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation
dictates.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma with a minimum of one year of increasingly responsible related administrative
support experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:
* Modern office procedures, methods and computer/software equipment.
* Principles and procedures of record keeping.
* Business letter writing and basic report preparation techniques.
* Basic mathematical and accounting processes.
* Effective customer service techniques.

Ability to:
* Perform responsible administrative support services involving the use of independent judgment.
* Coordinate multiple tasks while working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
* Operate computer and various software necessary for performing assigned duties.
* Work independently in the absence of supervision.
* Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working
relationships.
* Effectively handle an environment which involves close contact with coworkers and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a highly trafficked, crowded, and often noisy office environment. Operates
computer, printer, photocopier, fax machine, credit card machine, and other office equipment. Work
requires extended periods of sitting, reaching, typing, and mousing, which requires eye-hand
coordination and finger dexterity.

Office work generally includes physical activities such as moving, reaching, pulling, grasping, bending,
and transporting materials and other items (of 25 pounds or less) around the office. Use of phones,
computers, meeting room technology, and other types of small office equipment is required for this
position. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
