SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

Maintenance & Reliability Engineer reports directly to the Engineering / Maintenance Manager within the Grand Rapids site.

JOB DIMENSIONS

The role will support project and process improvement initiatives for the Grand Rapids site while also serving as the backup supervisor for the maintenance department.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanical Integrity / Maintenance - 35%

  • Assist in strategy determination, technical resourcing, procedure development, and coordination of task execution for mechanical integrity) -related activities, including safety critical systems.
  • Support maintenance and engineering resources on VIS spare parts management, including equipment priority classification and spare parts stocking level strategy.
  • Assists Maintenance and Engineering Manager in planning daily task assignments / priorities for maintenance personnel.
  • Manage the contractor program through the Avetta system.
  • Assists in planning plant shutdowns / turnaround activities.
  • Supports the training / development of the maintenance department.
  • Lead the maintenance department in the absence of the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.



Project Support - 25%

  • Provide early stage project evaluation (Front-End Loading) including scope, layout, and cost estimates for management review.
  • Conduct site walkthroughs with contractors and prepare documentation for bid and project packages.
  • Execute project plans while staying within project budget and the overall capital plan.
  • Assist the Maintenance and Engineering Manager in development of the five-year capital plan for the site.
  • Manage and direct contractors selected for the execution of capital projects.



Process Engineering - 20%

  • Provide engineering support in the design, operation, and maintenance of plant processes, equipment, facilities, and mechanical integrity initiatives.
  • Lead management of change and pre-startup safety reviews for process changes.
  • Develop, maintain, and update site P&ID's, drawings, flow diagrams, and other process safety related information.
  • Provides technical guidance to plant operations personnel in troubleshooting process upsets.
  • Supports ISO / Arkema Integrated Management System (AIMS) programs.
  • Participates in incident investigations as needed.
  • Participates in Process Hazard Analysis reviews.
  • Serves as the site ArkEnergy champion.



Process Automation - 20%

  • Support plant operations in troubleshooting PLC / HMI systems.
  • Manage PLC / HMI system life cycle through hardware and software updates.
  • Serve as the site cybersecurity champion (RSSC-L).
  • Participate in Americas automation engineering network group meetings.


  • Other duties as assigned.



CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT


  • Position will work at the Grand Rapids plant site / is non-remote.
  • This position is expected to transition into a Maintenance and Reliability Manager role focus in one to two years.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Comply with all Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements of Arkema / CSP.
  • Comply with the rules of the specific location as well as the rules set by the business unit (BU) and Arkema Inc.
  • Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents



REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • Two to five years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal); ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and other PC applications; SAP experience desired.
  • Good knowledge of ISO certifications and mechanical integrity programs.
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience desired.
  • Ability to work with others internally and externally with professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
