Job Description

The Assistant Director of Youth Programs, Student Experience & VentureOut will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a schedule of youth programs throughout the year serving the children of students, faculty, staff and community members, and provide guidance and leadership to our Team Mizzou student staff and VentureOut program that consist of climbing wall, ropes course, Alpine tower and team building. This position will serve as departmental point of contact with university Youth Protection Program. This person will provide organizational and administrative support to all departmental programs that involve youth including, but not limited to, Wheelchair basketball and Esports. This position will ensure all university, system, state, and federal laws and policies are followed regarding the management of youth programs and the training of staff working with children.

* Plan, organize, and implement a schedule of youth programs, including summer camp programs.

* Provide administrative coordination, vision, leadership, and strategic direction to the Team Mizzou student experience.

* Provide administrative coordination, vision, leadership, and strategic direction to the VentureOut program.

* Ensure all university, system, state, and federal laws and policies are followed regarding the management of youth programs and the training of staff working with children.

* Ensure that industry best practices are being implemented and followed.

* Set program procedures and offerings/schedules.

* Facilitate the scheduling of space for these activities.

* Coordinate with other programs who offer youth activities to oversee compliance with all guidelines for working with children.

* Work with the marketing & communications team, as well as public engagement to ensure these programs are effectively marketed to the Mizzou community and surrounding area.

* Manage all registration, communication and budget for youth programs

* Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate two (2) full time staff members (Student Experience Coordinator and VentureOut Coordinator) and student assistants (youth programs staff and counselors).

* Design and manage all aspects of staff orientation and training to ensure all staff are aware of specific laws and policies regarding working with children.

* Create and manage annual program budget, monitoring income and expenditures and forecasting year-end net income.

* Monitor all supplies, equipment, and expenditures.

* Generate invoices and manage collection of fees.

* Prepare and analyze reports of financial, participation, and inventory data.

* Participate in various inter-departmental, divisional, and university initiatives. Those opportunities include, but are not limited to: special projects and events, programming, risk management and operational leadership teams, and work groups pertaining to the overall student experience.

* As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve students and maintain the MizzouRec, Student Affairs, and Campus mission.

Shift

40 hours a week.

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Evenings and weekends will be required based on program needs.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related area and five years of an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is preferred. American Camp Association Day Camp Director Certificate. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in an area directly related to youth/camp programs.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $65,000
GGS Grade: 010
