Ophthalmic Technician

Inova Children's Multispecialty Clinic at Willow Oak's in Fairfax, VA is seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join the Pediatric multidisciplinary team. Ophthalmic Technician Job Responsibilities:



  • The Ophthalmic Technician performs comprehensive testing and eye evaluations to ensure optimum vision for all Eye Clinic patients.
  • Performs various testing (e.g. visual field tests, acuity testing, color vision testing, potential acuity meter testing, biometric A-scans, external and slit lamp examinations, and pachymetry testing).
  • Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery by incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice while enhancing patient outcomes.
  • Conducts routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and minor adjustments/repairs on all clinic equipment. Notifies the appropriate department for additional maintenance. Performs the surgical scheduling process for all Eye Clinic patients.
  • Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while showing respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.


Ophthalmic Technician Requirements:



  • Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week) Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Experience: Three years as an Ophthalmic Technician

    • Experience working with pediatric population, highly preferred

  • Certification: Ophthalmic technician certification, highly preferred
