Overview

The Payroll Specialist, under the guidance of the Payroll Manager, will assist in processing and reviewing bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls, ensuring smooth payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll, payroll tax filings and payroll general ledger interface.
  • Administer all company benefits plans and employee programs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain and review employee information in ADP and DBS systems.
  • Review ADP and DBS input and payroll reports bi-weekly to verify correct posting of hours worked and adjust payroll, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide data for various reports.
  • Balance all payroll and benefits accounts at month-end.
  • Reconcile the payroll clearing general ledger account monthly.
  • Transmit bi-weekly payroll data to the ADP Service Center and review resulting documentation, including the payroll register, GL interface, and payroll tax reporting.
  • Assist with verification of employment requests.
  • Assist with data entry of federal and state tax levy notices.
  • Assist with data entry for status change forms.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Certificate with a minimum of 5 years of experience required.
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll systems, including payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance required.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Analytical with a strong attention to details.
  • Knowledge of South Carolina payroll laws
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and accomplish tasks with strong attention to details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside (non-climate controlled) throughout the day.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
