Life Sciences Center Job Description
The Dr. Trupti Joshi research laboratory in the Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri is pleased to announce the opening of a Scientist position. This position is responsible for understanding, implementing and developing bioinformatics data analytics tools, computational methods and algorithms, databases, web-development, multiomics data integration strategies, modern machine learning / deep learning methods and statistics inferences algorithms and related tools. Specific responsibilities include the following: Build automatically workflow or pipelines for analysis of multiomics data such as bulk and single cell transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics, epigenomics, small rna etc. Develop and implement multiomics data integration methods and data visualization tools in web-based portals. Development of machine learning / deep learning methods for multiomics data in biomedical and plant science domains for phenotypic prediction. Develop and maintain standalone software and web services in bioinformatics and computational biology such as SoyKB, KBCommons frameworks and G2PDeep, IRnet, IMPRes, CrossMP etc. Develop new methods for cross-species multiomics data integration and regulatory network analysis. Assist in grant writing, project reports and proposal development. Manuscript drafting and publication. Collaborative bioinformatics research and course development training. Supervise graduate and undergraduate employees. Shift
Monday- Friday 8 am- 5 pm Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field. At least three-year work experience in bioinformatics research and development. In-depth capabilities in understanding, implementing and developing modern Machine learning/Deep learning and Statistics inferences algorithms and related tools. Excellence in R, Python, JAVA, SQL or MongoDB databases, and related web development in Unix/Linux environment. Working experience in analysis of high-throughput genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and other data. Knowledge of biological databases. In-depth knowledge in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology algorithms. Experiences with workflow management systems like Pegasus, Snakemake etc., High Performance Computers (CPU), Cloud storage and GPU programming. Familiarity with use of Amazon web services (AWS) resources, Docker and Github In-depth experience of bioinformatics problem solving, tool design and development process. Proactive team player with excellent communication and presentation skills. Candidates with prior tool development experience and publications record are preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range
