As a Solid Waste Engineering Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be involved in the design, analyses, permitting, and preparation of drawings and technical specifications for solid waste disposal facilities, including coal combustion residual (CCR) and industrial facilities. Interacting with clients, contractors, and local government officials, you'll impact the entire project from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory permitting and review process, bidding, and construction. You will be responsible for working in a team environment in which you will be leading younger staff and mentoring them, reviewing their work, and collaboratively delivering projects.

Responsibilities include:

    The design, analyses, permitting, and preparation of drawings and technical specifications and construction period services for solid waste, CCR, and other industrial waste management facilities;
  • General civil/environmental engineering duties, including grading, quantity estimates, and hydrology;
  • Design of all aspects of landfills:
    • Single and double composite liner and cover systems
    • Leachate conveyance and storage facilities
    • Stormwater conveyance and storage facilities
    • Landfill gas collection/treatment systems
    • On-site roadways, and ancillary buildings and structures
  • Develop permit application documents, contract drawings, specifications, and estimates for landfills, transfer stations, landfill gas to energy facilities, and recycling facilities;
  • Preparation of engineering design reports, feasibility studies, and solid waste management plans; and
  • Review of projects for compliance with plans/specifications and State and Federal regulations.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in the design, permitting, document preparation, and CQA of waste disposal facilities;
  • Ability to coordinate the regulatory agency review process;
  • B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering (M.S. a plus);
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) Licensure with the ability to secure a P.E. in the State of Tennessee;
  • Understanding of business principles of consulting projects and related project delivery tools;
  • Strong project management skills and leadership ability;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated report and proposal writing skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Autodesk Civil 3D.
