St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Computer Science and Engineering Sabbatical Replacement.

Status: Full-time, temporary

Department: Instructional Faculty, Upper School

Position Description:

This is a one-semester, sabbatical leave replacement position. Duties will include teaching four courses across computer science, data science, and engineering. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field, although a master's degree in one of these disciplines is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language and have a breadth of experience in computer science disciplines. Familiarity with Java and/or Python would be preferred, but not required. While lesson plans will be provided, candidates should feel comfortable delivering computer science content, assessing student work, and answering student questions.

As importantly, we seek candidates who have demonstrated success in working with young people, and who will approach their role as a teacher with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are valued.

Requirements:

BA degree required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
