Small Arms Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Small Arms Technician to support the Marine Deport Maintenance Center (MDMC) for the United States Marine Corps. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and modification of small arms and light weapons. The Small Arms Technician will ensure that all weapons are maintained to the highest standards to ensure reliability and safety.

Compensation & Benefits:



  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Small Arms Technician: Pay commensurate with experience.

Small Arms Technician Responsibilities Include:



  • Perform detailed inspections and preventive maintenance on a variety of small arms and light weapons to ensure they are operational and meet safety standards.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs or overhauls on small arms, including disassembly, cleaning, replacement of parts, reassembly, and testing.
  • Implement modifications and upgrades to small arms as required, following detailed technical instructions and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations during the handling and maintenance of weapons to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and modifications performed on weapons.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of tools, parts, and supplies necessary for the maintenance and repair of small arms.
  • Provide technical support and training to USMC personnel on the proper care, maintenance, and operation of small arms.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to ensure weapons are in optimal condition and meet performance standards.


Small Arms Technician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in small arms repair is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in small arms maintenance and repair, preferably in a military environment.
  • Strong understanding of the operation, maintenance, and repair of small arms and light weapons used by the USMC.
  • Ensure precision and accuracy in all aspects of weapon maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve malfunctions in small arms efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting maintenance activities and providing training.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the position.
  • Interpersonal skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.


This position primarily works in a workshop or armory setting, with occasional fieldwork as needed. Ability to handle and work with small arms and light weapons, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, and lift up to 50 pounds.
