We are seeking skilled NH3 Refrigeration Mechanics to help keep our operations running safely and efficiently. The Ammonia (NH3) Refrigeration Mechanic ensures the safe and efficient operation of Echo Lake Foods' industrial ammonia refrigeration and utility systems. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in compliance with IIAR standards, PSM/RMP programs, and company safety policies. Ideal candidates bring solid technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and experience in food or industrial manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities


  • Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with PSM/RMP requirements and IIAR standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and respond promptly to alarms or system failures.
  • Conduct daily system inspections and maintain required operational and compliance documentation.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) compliance, including audits and safety training.
  • Assist with plant utility systems such as boilers, air compressors, HVAC, and water systems.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and chemical handling requirements.



Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PSM/RMP regulations, IIAR standards, and industrial refrigeration best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and use of CMMS systems.


Preferred

  • Technical or vocational training related to industrial refrigeration or maintenance.
  • RETA CIRO or CARO certification.



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in cold, wet, refrigerated, or confined environments within a food manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, chemical protection, and safety equipment.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, including after-hours call-ins if required.
