Position Description:

Are you passionate about teaching and eager to work in a leading academic center committed to changing medicine and healthcare? The University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine is seeking faculty for a position in the Division of General Internal Medicine to grow their academic hospitalist group. The Hospitalist Program offers extensive opportunities for faculty to engage in teaching students, residents, and advance practice providers, in addition to participating in groundbreaking health services research.

    • Cardiology hospitalist services allow individuals interested in cardiovascular disease to practice alongside heart failure cardiology specialists with advance practice provider support. Historically, former cardiology hospitalists have successfully matched in cardiology fellowships.

Job Duties: Successful candidates will practice in the area of Hospital Medicine and assume a lead inpatient role in our multidisciplinary care team.

We are actively recruiting part-time and full-time physicians at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Track, commensurate with experience and training. Appointment to the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered. Education Requirement:


  • Candidates must have an M.D. degree or equivalent.


Required Qualifications:


  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program
  • Candidate must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Excellent Communication Skills
