As a member of the engineering team supporting manufacturing, the Technical Writer will assist in supporting assembly instructions & test procedures. They will primarily provide engineering support to the Manufacturing Engineering team for Continuous Improvement as it relates to instructions and procedures. Their success will be validated by their growth in learning effective and efficient cross-departmental communication and collaboration, resulting in the reduction of waste and the timely closure of assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction Development



  1. Update Assembly Instructions & Test Procedures
  2. Make suggestions for Instructions & Test Procedures
  3. Transfer documentation onto new templates
  4. Interface successfully with production.
  5. Maintain and report status updates and project plans for key operations activities.
  6. Close tasks on time and in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

Basic Qualifications



  1. At least one or two years of relevant experience
  2. Experience and capability in understanding and writing engineering technical documentation.
  3. Ability to understand process documentation and suggest optional instructions
  4. Strong command of the English language
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office and specifically PowerPoint
  6. Detail Oriented



ESSENTIAL MENTAL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch and bend for up to eight hours a day.
  2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  3. Extensive use of hands in writing, use of the computer and using hand and power tools
  4. Ability to communicate in person and by phone
  5. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to write clear and logical work instructions. Ability to write business reports and complex correspondence.
  6. Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts - frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  7. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
