We are pleased to present the following position for your consideration: Overview: Behavioral Health Specialist - Recovery Residential These positions will join the Heritage's Recovery Residential Team to provide support, engagement, and linkage to various resources, to adults receiving treatment in our crisis residential unit, detoxification/withdrawal management unit, and residential rehabilitation substance use program. Heritage's Recovery Residential Programs are open 24 hours daily. Services will be provided at Heritage Behavioral Health Center, 151 North Main, Decatur, Illinois 62523. We offer a variety of full-time and part-time positions, all which will include rotating weekend hours. These positions work collaboratively with clients, community providers/organizations, and other Heritage staff. Residential Shifts available include:
- 1st shift; 7:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
- 2nd shift; 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
- 3rd shift; 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Telephone and face-to-face contact with clients seeking mental health and substance use treatment via the crisis line;
- Provide support and individual interventions to clients experiencing depression, anxiety, mood instability, and/or psychosis in a supportive and caring manner;
- Providing support and individual interventions to clients who are experiencing withdrawal from alcohol or other substances;
- Providing support, structure, and a positive role model to individuals admitted to the crisis residential unit, detoxification/withdrawal management unit, or residential rehabilitation unit;
- Provide regular monitoring of client's admitted to residential programming including 15 minute or 30 minute rounds/documentation;
- Monitors the activities of clients reporting and documenting any changes in the behavior and/or changes in symptoms;
- Provide support and skill-building to individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis;
- Provide support to individuals calling the crisis hotline by providing active listening, support, and referral and linkage when indicated;
- Participate in a team-based approach to providing treatment including collaboration with case managers, counselors nursing, clinical leaders, and other partners invested in the individual's recovery;
- Communicate and collaborate with providers to coordinate treatment including counselors, engagement staff, nursing, and clinical leaders;
- Accountable for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained living environment;
- Attend all required supervisions and trainings required within the role and position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to engage individuals when they are asking for help and decrease barriers to accessing treatment;
- Knowledge of community resources and/or how to find those resources;
- Knowledge of case management techniques;
- Knowledge of community resources including psychiatric, substance use, medical, and/or other community services;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work in a team based environment;
- Strong customer service skills;
- Ability to navigate electronic health record;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work rotating schedule every other weekend
- Ability to meet people where they are at in their recovery, non-judgmental, and ability to build rapport quickly.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum of 21 years of age;
- Candidates with experience working with individuals with mental health and substance use diagnoses is highly desired.
- CNAs, Medical Assistants (MA) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are encouraged to apply.
- A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of automobile insurance coverage are required.
Salary Range: $37,440-$45,760 per year ($18.00 - $22.00 per hour) - dependent on education and experience Heritage also offers the following with this position:
