POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing domestic payroll with speed and accuracy for Meso Scale Diagnostics and affiliated companies. The Senior Payroll Administrator will serve as the back-up for processing international payroll.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Analyzes, and prepares payroll data to include garnishments, mandatory withholdings and deductions,vacation time, sick time, and 401(k) deductions. Utilizes automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

* Monitors the Payroll email in-box and respond to employee pay-related inquiries in a timely manner. Answering questions from employees and supervisors regarding payroll matters

* Serves as liaison to employees and with third party payroll vendors to ensure payroll processing accurately reflects company specific pay policies.

* Reconciles payroll-related general ledger and prepares reports/statements summarizing payroll-related accounts.

* Audits employee pay records and reconciles totals by department, location, etc.

* Prepares and transmit 401(k) contributions to retirement plan provider.

* Prepares journal entries and perform account reconciliations for payroll and payroll related accounts in the general ledger

* Assists with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation.

* Serves as primary back-up for multiple third party payroll processing companies in international jurisdictions

* Maintains Standard Operation Procedures for payroll processes and procedures.

* Assists with year-end financial audit, annual insurance audits and annual 401(k) audit preparation, and ad hoc reporting, as required.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

* Minimum of five years of payroll administration experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Thorough understanding of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

* Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop a recommendation and plan of action. Mathematical competency.

* High degree of integrity and commitment.

* Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner.

* Ability to identify and recommend changes to payroll processes and/or systems.

* Ability to perform ad hoc reporting and other tasks as needed in a demanding financial environment.

* A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees as well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the company.

* Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables.

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks requiring strong attention to detail.Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Proficient in working with payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in in payroll platforms such as UKG, ADP, Ceridian is desired.

* A customer focus which demonstrates proactive, responsive services.

* Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The individual is occasionally required to walk, use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a traditional office environment with a hybrid schedule possible.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $66,200. to $98,500. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
