You can explore the details of our benefits offering by visiting the following link: https://jhhs.mybenefitsjhhs.com/ Summary: The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist III, under the leadership of the ROI Supervisor, is responsible for interpreting all types of requests for copies of electronic medical records, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the privacy and security of protected health information. The ROI Specialist III will prioritize all requests directly related to patient care based on the needs of the patient and ensure record copies are securely delivered. The ROI Specialist III will apply controls to accurately identify the correct patient using all available patient identifiers in the electronic Master Patient Index. The ROI Specialist III is responsible for limiting copies of clinical documentation, based on the specifics of the request, in compliance with the Minimum Necessary Rule in the HIPAA Regulations. The ROI Specialist III will ensure a thorough and accurate search of all current and multiple legacy medical record systems to include paper medical records. The ROI Specialist III will update the ROI module of the electronic medical record with the information that was sent to the requestor, as well as relevant comments, to support the Accounting of Disclosures requirement in the HIPAA regulations. The ROI Specialist III will receive walk-in customers and interact by phone on a daily basis with patients, their families, attorneys, government officials, physicians, and others. The ROI Specialist III will safeguard and protect patient privacy by identifying protected health information ensuring, only authorized individuals are granted access to the information, and will abide with all relevant hospital policies, the 21st Century Cures Act, State of Maryland and HIPAA regulations. Education/Experience: * Associates Degree, preferably in Health Information Management or AHMIA ROI micro-credential and one year of ROI work experience. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
