Mechanical Insulation Technician
Position Summary:

This position has a high percentage on Installation and replaces of insulation in buildings and mechanical systems. general maintenance, repair and inspections of associated with the facility. The individual in this role must be available for call-in work and to perform other duties as required.

Essential Functions:
Perform general maintenance and installation of various insulation and fire stopping on facility equipment with a professional and safe approach. Comply with all safety and site rule.
Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems. Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings to site specifications as required. Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
Provide professional feedback to update preventative maintenance procedures.
Maintain up to date & complete system documentation in a central resource location, for all repairs or changes to the system.
Perform preventive maintenance to include: mobilization of tools, equipment and materials; performing work with minimal disruption to occupants; properly maintaining required documentation, conducting immediate cleanup of work area including returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room; identifying and reporting all equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages to the Facility Manager or their designee.
Maintain tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs.
Maintain a clean and safe workspace.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Reads building plans and blueprints to calculate the quantity and type of insulation materials needed to fulfill job requirements.
Clears and disposes of old insulation according to established safety guidelines.
Loads and unloads insulation materials.
Measures and cuts insulation to fit into walls, ceilings, and around pipes.
Fastens insulation in place with tape, screws, staples, or fasteners as needed.
Follows company and industry safety guidelines and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Environment:
The working environment is a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D and office location.

Skills/Qualifications
5+ years discipline or equivalent work experience related to installation / repairs in a commercial / manufacturing setting
working knowledge of installation of insulation on mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers) and pipe insulation (elbows, valves, steam, condensate and chilled systems)
Certified Insulator (Preferred) or 4th year apprentice
GMP experience preferred. Not Required.
Demonstrated technical knowledge in facility related systems
Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
