PRIMARY PURPOSE

To coordinate and supervise daily shipping and receiving operations for The GIANT Company Perishable Distribution Center (PDC). Ensure team members scheduled are productive in the accommodation of projected workload for both inbound and outbound trailers; that selection, receiving, and forklift work is completed accurately and on time, that trailers are loaded accurately and on time; and that the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Yard Management System (YMS) system is utilized to its fullest extent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Effectively communicate with team members, transportation, and management
* Starting the YMS for the day, prioritize cross dock trailers, and set up doors; monitor the YMS for the day when assigned
* Setting up loaders for the day; assigning cross dock jobs to the loaders
* Check for left over product from prior days shipping; running any repaired equipment to their correct doors
* Ensure all product is staged in compliance with food safety and SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards
* Performing weekly load audits with the dock supervisor
* Coordinate overflow and missed pallets to transportation and supervision; follow transportations direction on pallet disposition
* Verifying all load cards, making sure that items like the mail bag, inserts, etc. are clearly marked on the load card; if not, having the loader return to verify where they are and correct before closing the door
* Working knowledge of WMS to extract needed data
* Fill in for a shift leader that is off on the opposite rotation on the dock for heavy movers or there is a distribution to go out like magazines on Wednesdays or on days you come in extra
* Clean and organize the dock at shift completion
* Other duties as assigned
* Adherence to SQF guidelines and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

* Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
* Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations in order to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner
* Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position, with or without a reasonable accommodation
* Must meet the company performance standards for the job including but not limited to regular attendance.
* Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Shift Hours: 5am until 2pm; mandatory OT required
* Job Cycles: Continual Max
* Lift/carry: 55 lbs.
* Stand 55%, Sit 0%, Walk 45%
* Category IV: Lifting, carrying, P/P up to 55 lbs.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

* Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook
* Education (minimum needed): High school diploma or GED
* Experience (minimum needed): Five years in distribution operations with increasing responsibility
* Ability to learn and operate in an EXE WMS environment
* PC/Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Good communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines
* Licensed to operate forklift; basic knowledge of a large (30,000 lbs.) ammonia plant operation and emergency response procedures
