This position provides direct patient care, provides input to the interdisciplinary team regarding ongoing patient care, as well as comprehensive discharge planning. Therapist is expected to provide services interchangeably among "like facilities." For example, acute care staff may float between inpatient hospital settings, while post-acute staff may provide services within various post-acute facility settings based upon census and business needs. The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and families. This position conducts evaluations, develops appropriate plan of care, and provides occupational therapy services through time of discharge. At times, this position may be asked to participate in program development and outcome measurements in the clinical setting. Per diem staff is required to work at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday each year. Major holidays are defined as Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Minor holidays are defined as New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. If an area is closed on major holidays, the requirement is to work at least 1 day the week of the holiday period. This position does provide patient care.
