Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a candidate in the area of Rehabilitation Engineering and health technologies, including, but not limited to assistive technologies, rehabilitation robotics, wearables, neural engineering, user interfaces, neuroprosthetics, remote monitoring, artificial intelligence applications to rehabilitation science, and translation of rehabilitation technologies to clinical populations.Ohio State's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMamp;R) is nationally known for its comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation education and training. The Department has been a leader in caring for those with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke for more than 50 years. US News amp; World Report has ranked the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as one of the top programs in America. This year, the Department is ranked #1 in Columbus and #33 in the nation for delivering exceptional patient care. Additionally, the PMamp;R residency program is ranked 24th through Doximity Residency Navigator. The Department also provides the medical leadership and patient care of Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, a 60-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital located on the main campus of OSUWMC.

PMamp;R is composed of 28 physicians, 6 research faculty, 11 rehabilitation psychology faculty, 21 residents, 5 fellows and 13 research support staff and is part of Ohio States multidisciplinary Neurological Institute, a network of specialists collaborating in research, education and training. In addition, the PMamp;R Department is a leader in clinical applications of rehabilitative care and neurorecovery for diverse neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, stroke, and brain and spine injury. With $4.5 million in research funding and ranked in the top five for research funding amongst all PMamp;R departments in the nation by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, our researchers are transforming the outcomes and care of patients with neurologic and musculoskeletal injuries.

Successful candidates will have already established a highly competitive independent research program or will have otherwise demonstrated the clear potential to do so. The applicants research should include a clear pathway to translation and implementation in human clinical populations. Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, Anatomy, Neuromechanics, Biomechanics, Neuroengineering, Rehabilitation Engineering, Rehabilitation Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related areas.
  • Candidate should have demonstrated excellent capability for scholarly activity during post-doctoral research and as early career faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, mentoring students at various career stages, conducting an independent and externally funded research program, and participating in departmental, school, college, and university service. Qualified candidates must have expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
