SCOPE OF HOUSING INTERN WORK: The Housing Intern will assist the Logistics Supervisor in coordinating and preparing homes for refugees. Duties include logistics assistance, move-in assistance, and managing internal organizational systems. Travel within Tallahassee may be required depending on project needs. This position requires a minimum of 15 hours a week for 3 consecutive months. Please note that all internship positions are unpaid.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Housing Intern will assist the Logistics Supervisor with the following tasks:

  • Logistics assistance:

  • Assist with essential logistics tasks related to refugee/parolee arrivals. This includes procuring or coordinating food, housing supplies, phones, internet service, transporting clients, communicating with external partners, and more.

  • Move-in assistance:

  • Work with volunteers to move furniture and supplies into a unit, set up the unit, transport clients, or oversee lease signings, etc.

  • Organization/Administrative Assistance:

  • Help build and manage internal systems, write case notes, work on case file management, file receipts, credit card transactions, fill out applications, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Second language ability preferred

  • Organized with attention to detail

  • Able to work independently and under pressure

  • An interest in international issues

  • Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting.

  • Computer literacy - preferably with PC systems

  • Valid driver's license, reliable access to an insured vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass a background check

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.

  • Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard

This will be anin-personrole.

This position will report to theLogistics Supervisor.
