Undersea Warfighting (USW) Analyst

This position supports the Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) as an Undersea Warfighting (USW) Analyst at Commander Submarine Force Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC) Pearl Harbor Hawaii. The ideal candidate will design, observe, reconstruct, analyze, and report on submarine tactical development exercises in support of UWDC and COMSUBPAC objectives.



  • Design, plan, coordinate, and execute submarine exercises.
  • Collect data and reconstruct exercises.
  • Conduct analysis of submarine exercises and real-world operations.
  • Author reports and briefs on submarine tactics.
  • Present technical results to Navy and civilian organizations.
  • Embark submarines for short periods to accomplish exercise objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Follow policies and procedures as described in corporate manuals and directives.
  • Attend work each day during scheduled work hours unless on approved travel or time off.
  • Perform occasional travel to contractor and customer sites.
  • Carry out other duties as may be assigned or requested.

  • Previous experience as a Submarine Officer (1120) with extensive experience in submarine operations, analysis, and tactical development preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of current submarine tactical doctrine related to submarine search, approach, tracking, and attack.
  • In-depth knowledge of capabilities and limitations of submarine sensors, weapons, and combat systems.
  • Proven expertise in the experimental design and scientific analysis of structured tactical development exercises to evaluate new concepts, tactics, and procedures.
  • Highly skilled in computer reconstruction of ship tracks and correlation of operational data, including the ability to deal with incomplete, poor quality, or inconsistent data.
  • Experience in drafting technical reports, memoranda, and briefing materials.


Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering) required; Master's Degree in mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or Applied Science is a plus.
