The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure, Postdoctoral Associate position within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The selected candidate will be performing on Lung research will also emphasize on the effects of HIV infection and cigarette smoke on lung inflammation and airway innate immunity with a goal towards developing therapeutic approaches to rescue these effects. The laboratory is funded by NIH grants to determine the effects of HIV and cigarette smoke on senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction and airway inflammation. The Postdoctoral Associate is required to work with HIV and animal models of the disease. The selected candidate will also be responsible for analyzing scientific data, writing manuscripts for publication, and helping with grant proposals to agencies such as the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation. Duties will also include Service to the College of Medicine (e.g., member of committee, reviewer for journals), grant writing and applying for federal and or state funding. Lastly, the selected candidate is expected to possess excellent project and time management skills, strong interpersonal and mentoring skills, that advocate for safety and ethics in the workplace. Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree (PhD). Desired Qualifications
Prior experience working with animals and researching lung comorbidities in HIV is preferred. Candidates with experience and publications demonstrating analyses of Omics data specifically, RNAseq, single cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics and metabolomics are preferred. Job Category
