Daikin Applied is seeking a Designer II. The Designer II will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Designers will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Staunton, VA - Onsite

What you will do:



  • Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
  • Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
  • Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
  • Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
  • Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals
  • Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
  • Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
  • Be part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Vocational or Technical Degree or Associates in Design/Drafting
  • Two years of related experience
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Sheet metal design and/or HVAC products
