Reporting jointly to the Assistant Director, Clinical Program Development and the Assistant Director, Formulary Management and Integration, the Clinical Coordinator, Gene Therapy is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the use of gene therapy treatments across Johns Hopkins Medicine. This role will work with direct (in-vivo) gene therapies administered in the outpatient setting as well as select gene therapies administered in the inpatient setting. This position may also support other high investment medications as needed. This role includes clinical, operational, and administrative responsibilities, focusing on ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of gene therapy treatments to patients.The Clinical Coordinator supports precepting interns, students or residents. This role will require travel to Baltimore, Maryland and St. Petersburg, Florida during onboarding and intermittently to various sites across the health system to support new product implementations and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

Responsibilities:




  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure cohesive patient care related to gene therapy
  • Provide clinical expertise in the selection and use of gene therapies, including development of restriction and patient selection criteria
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for gene therapy
  • Monitor and manage patient cases throughout the medication use process
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, specialty distributors, and purchasing leadership for the procurement of gene therapies
  • Lead the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and policies in collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholder groups
  • Support development of educational materials for gene therapy treatments, expected outcomes, and potential side effects
  • Ensure compliance with drug-specific access contracts and training requirements
  • Confirm prior authorization is obtained for gene therapies and support appeals where necessary to secure medication access for patients
  • Support managed care and payer relations teams in the negotiation of single case agreements and other payer contracts for gene therapy treatments
  • Assist in the tracking and reporting of financial and clinical data

Minimum Qualifications:





  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent two years of experience.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program preferred
  • State of Maryland pharmacist license required
  • Certified by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy to provide vaccinations preferably upon hire and required within six months of employment
  • Active CPR certification
  • Minimum one year direct patient care experience as a pharmacist required


Salary Range: Minimum 45.22 per hour - Maximum 81.97 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
