Scope of Work: The Afternoon Youth Program Volunteer will be a supporting role in an afterschool program designed to support newly arrived youth in South Brooklyn. The program is designed for children in 2nd - 5th grades, and is aimed at supporting the specific needs of recently arrived refugee youth who may benefit from additional academic and social resources. The program will consist of a wide range of activities, from STEM, to visual arts and theater. The program volunteer will support the program lead in the classroom, assisting with activity setup, student engagement, and maintaining a positive learning environment. The volunteer may also be providing curriculum and logistical support to the program lead. This is a part-time in-person position, requiring the volunteer to commute to South Brooklyn. Essential Job Functions: Support the Youth Partnerships and Academy Coordinator and Specialist in facilitating its South Brooklyn Afterschool Youth Program.
Learning Objectives: Volunteer will learn how to plan for and facilitate an educational program for youth.
