Requisition ID req31308 Working Title Utilities Maint Mechanic 1 Position Grade 09 Position Summary UNM's Utility Services is currently seeking a sharp, enthusiastic, professional to join our Utilities team as the Utilities Maintenance/Mechanic Tech 1. The ideal candidate will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on utility plant equipment and systems to promote safe and efficient operation of high-pressure steam boilers, refrigeration units, potable water systems, electricity production systems, and associated equipment. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Must maintain certification status. Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. Must have Basic First Aid and Adult CPR/AED Certificates or obtain within 3 months of date of hire. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Possession of at least one of the following New Mexico Journeyman's licenses/certifications; Plumbing (JP), Pipe Fitter (JPF), Gas (JG), Refrigeration (JR) or Plumber/Gas (JPG). Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial chillers and their auxiliary equipment. Experience with industrial boilers and their auxiliary equipment.
