Certified Welder - 3rd Shift

Certified Welder for the GTFSD Glendale facility, an FAA repair station for fuel nozzles used in commercial and military aerospace and industrial applications.

With direct guidance in a team environment, responsible for performing complex manual and automated welds using a large variety of equipment on high temperature, high strength alloy metals. Must become certified to AWS D17.1:2001.

** This position will be on 2nd shift hours: Sunday night- Thursday night 11pm - 7am**

Essential Functions :

Following established procedures, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
  
• Prepare parts for welding including cleaning, de-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture Interpret blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications and quality directives.
  
• Perform certified welding operations based on repair needs.
  
• Make parameter adjustments, within the limits of procedure, to fine tune the process in order to achieve conformance standards.
  
• Set up and maintain the set-up to assure repeatability. May also set up and maintain the set-up of others.
  
• Sections sample hardware for conformance and achieves first article.
  
• Works closely with supervision and is responsible for maintaining an inventory of welding materials and supplies.
  
• Observe all safety rules and maintain a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
  
• May be required to run automatic weld machine.
  
• Perform other related responsibilities

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of welding or related experience
• Able to become certified to AWS D17.1.2001.
• Able to read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols and quality requirements.
• Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
• Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
• Must demonstrate effective English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
