The Medical Assistant program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person or online instructional vacancies. The assignment may include classes at the Santa Maria campus, Lompoc Valley Center, or online, as needed. Positions may be available during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

The teaching assignment will include one or more courses offered in the program, such as: Theory:
- Fall - Body Systems & Disease, MA Fundamentals, and MA Clinical Procedures 1
- Spring - MA Pharmacology, MA Clinical Procedures 2, and MA Job Success Externship
- The instructor will evaluate and advise students
- Provide instruction in accordance with the program-approved curriculum
- Teach classes as scheduled. Maintain accurate records
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
- Maintain current knowledge and clinical skills in the subject matter areas
- Maintain a current nursing licensure
- Fulfill the professional responsibility of a part-time/temporary faculty member
- Maintain current health care facility requirements including but not limited to vaccinations, TB testing, etc.
Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students' disabilities. Demonstrated ability to develop and use resource materials and incorporate current computer technology and to use multi-media technology in classroom instruction. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts and to assess student achievement. Demonstrated ability to design, review, and evaluate curriculum and make recommendations to maintain program currency for both vocational and transfer students. Demonstrate ability to identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course program improvements. Demonstrated ability to work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, academic or vocational goals. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communication and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Demonstrated experience implementing the interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing. Knowledge of diverse learning styles and teaching strategies and demonstrated experience in implementing these strategies.

- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in the California Community Colleges
- Associate degree and six years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse

Lecture Rate: $65.74 to $86.44 per hour depending upon education and experience
