Position Summary

The University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine,
Department of Pediatrics is recruiting for two faculty positions in the
Pediatric Rheumatology Section. Part-time or full-time. Track, rank, and
salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The
Department of Pediatrics is a multi-specialty group of more than 100 faculty at
New Mexico's only pediatric tertiary care facility. The Children's Hospital of
New Mexico is an integral part of University of New Mexico Health Science
Center, the State's premier medical educational and research institution.

The section of Pediatric Rheumatology currently
includes a pediatric nurse practitioner who functions as an independent
provider, two dedicated pediatric rheumatology nurses, physical/occupational
therapy services and social work support. The section of Pediatric Rheumatology
has a collaborative relationship with the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at
Colorado Children's to provide case review discussion and opportunities for
joint educational conferences.

The Children's Hospital of New Mexico provides the
Pediatric Rheumatology section with a daytime infusion center and sedation
services with a suite for joint-related procedures. There are tremendous
opportunities for growth of the clinical services and research. Teaching
medical students, pediatric residents and adult rheumatology fellows is an
integral part of the duties of pediatric rheumatology faculty. Recent
fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply. New Mexico is designated medically underserved region of the
country and eligible faculty may apply for various loan repayment programs
(e.g,. HRSA, NHSC, PLSF).

The Children's Hospital of New Mexico is located on
the beautiful campus of the University of New Mexico in the city of
Albuquerque. Albuquerque, with a population of 800,000, is located in the
high desert of New Mexico. It offers the cultural advantages of a metropolitan
area with the feeling of small city living. Relocation expenses will be
covered. New Mexico enjoys a mild 4-season climate with affordable
housing and a vibrant cultural scene. Santa Fe, a world-renowned artistic
community, is less than an hour away. New Mexico is a place of unmatched
natural beauty and offers easy access to a large variety of outdoor activities
including hunting and fishing, skiing, rafting, hiking, ballooning, and other
unique and extraordinary activities.


Qualifications

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Board certified/Board eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to obtain medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of ACGME-accredited pediatric rheumatology fellowship.
  • Experience or interest in conducting basic or clinical research.
  • Experience in teaching house staff and medical students.
  • Master's degree in Public Health or in Medical or Clinical Education.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
