Corewell Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan announces an exceptional opportunity for a nationally recognized physician leader to serve as the Division Chief, Vascular Surgery, Vein and Limb Care at the Frederik Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute (FMHVI).

The Division Chief will serve as an influential and highly visible leader and will execute the divisional strategy, vision, and clinical operations to promote the FMHVI as a premier institution and destination for heart and vascular care. The Division Chief will lead a talented team of surgeons, wound and vein specialists to further identify opportunities to improve quality, grow specialty services, and advance organizational initiatives including safety, inclusion, and accountability. The Division Chief will work closely with service line leaders in cardiology and cardiothoracic services to ensure coordinated planning and support for all related services and patient care initiatives. The Division Chief will foster collaborations and partner with programs and centers both regionally and nationally to extend the existing clinical excellence, research, and education in vascular surgery.

The Frederik Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute at Corewell Health offers a quaternary portfolio of programs and services from prevention to transplantation with a strong foundation on quality, service and excellence. Corewell Health's Cardiovascular Health service line, consisting of nearly 1000 dedicated and highly skilled medical professionals and staff, includes FMHVI, an all-encompassing heart and vascular hospital with 12 operating rooms including 4 hybrid operating rooms, 9 catheterization labs, and 6 floors of patient rooms. Currently, the Division of Vascular Surgery, Vein and Limb Care includes 14 physicians, over a dozen APPs, and a large office and operational staff. This group performs approximately 20,800 patient office visits, 1900 vascular operations, 1700 vein procedures, and 19000 imaging studies yearly.

Corewell Health Cardiovascular Health includes a robust, active and productive research program with 66 current and completed clinical trials. The FMHVI houses multiple residencies and fellowships including Vascular Surgery Fellowship and Residency (0-5) programs.

The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized vascular surgeon and physician leader with an outstanding track record of program development, provider recruitment, and advancing quality and service initiatives to achieve the highest quality patient care. Prior physician leadership experience in vascular surgery is required for this role. The individual will have strong interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to advance clinical programs, education and research. Board certification, the ability to obtain an unrestricted Michigan medical license and maintain a robust clinical practice in vascular surgery is required. The Division Chief will report to the Endowed Chair, FMHVI and Vice President of Cardiovascular Health. The successful candidate is eligible for academic rank in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

  • Required Doctorate
  • At least four years experience in a medical group setting, medical administration, with knowledge of medical business practices, organization dynamics and a desire for greater influence in the building of a multi-specialty group practice. Required
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross required
