POSITION SUMMARY:

The Public Safety Communication Specialist (i.e. PSCS) will answer all incoming calls and radio transmissions and have central control over all the departmental databases and programs accessing that data, maintaining the accuracy of all database generated data. Monitor and respond to the intelligent CCTV alarm recognition system, monitor and respond to alarms generated from the card access, fire, HVAC, emergency phone and other facility-related systems in order to foster communication and aid in problem-solving. The SCS serves as the first point of contact for situations involving on and off-site facilities while allocating and directing assets, people and resources to help resolve incidents/events. Maintain accurate up to date file and logs and prepare reports as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:




  • Ability to ensure, through proactive techniques, the security and safety of all employees, patients and guests with the highest levels of professionalism and customer service in order to create the securest and safest environment possible
  • Maintain computer systems and database information with accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to respond to a variety of emergencies/crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention to restore normal conditions and begin treatment of injured persons
  • Proactively protects the health system's facilities and assets in order to prevent damage and loss through the allocation of assets, resources and people to help resolve an incident/event
  • Monitors alarm and CCTV systems to maintain facility security
  • Receives, relays, and/or transmits routine and emergency calls to police, fire, and other public safety units by responding to alarm detections/activations and notifying the appropriate groups to ensure a timely response
  • Interacts appropriately and provides assistance to clients and customers of the facility to sustain the highest level of customer service



QUALIFICATIONS:




  • A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement
  • 1 year experience at a dispatch, call center, or operations center in a policing, security, military, or public safety setting preferred
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License
  • Valid State of Florida Security License Class D
  • Obtain within 6 months and recertify as required in CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training, Proper Use of Physical Restraints, Safe Driving Course
  • Ability to multitask and function effectively in a high stress environment; strong interpersonal / communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of staff
  • Ability to receive, assess, prioritize, respond to, and document requests for security assistance in an efficient and effective manner
  • Computer Systems and Database Management experience, Microsoft, report writing systems, clinical documentation systems, visitor management systems, emergency notifications systems


Salary Range: Minimum 16.61 per hour - Maximum 26.57 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
